Westminster, S.C., - A man has a been arrested by the FBI in Atlanta in connection with a number of thefts last year in South Carolina, the FBI said Friday. Gene Raymond Chrisley, 36, was being held in Atlanta on $25,000 bond. The FBI said he was arrested on a federal warrant issued Jan. 27, 1971 at Greeneville, S.C., charging Chrisley with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution on charges of housebreaking, safecracking, larceny and receiving stolen goods. Leo E. Conroy, special agent in charge of the Atlanta office, said he had been advised by South Carolina authorities that Christey has been charged with 22 separate cases in Oconee County in connection with housebreaking and receiving stolen goods.

ANDERSON SC - A 36-year-old man was sentenced to a total 25 years in prison in General Sessions Court Monday after pleading quilty to 12 charges of housebreaking and larceny.  Resident Judge E. Harry Agnew sentenced Gene Chrisley to 15 years on several cases and 10 years on the others. The sentences are to run consecutively. Chrisley has similar cases pending in Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, Greenville counties. Ballenger indicated he would bring the indictments in Oconee County to Anderson Tuesday, so that they could be heard now instead of waiting until Judge Agnew presides in Oconee County Court in 3 weeks.
